Health regulations for mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar may differ, as these are two sovereign states within the United Republic of Tanzania: at present, however, neither destination requires the presentation of any Covid-19 vaccination certificate or a negative molecular test result.
The Airline may, however, make use of the option to require one of the two certifications, in order to allow boarding on its carriers: therefore, careful verification of the regulations, through the Travel Agency or the Airline itself, is suggested before purchasing the ticket.
In any case, the regulations in force, recommend the completion of the vaccination cycle according to the regulations of one's country of origin, and spot checks are always possible on arriving passengers, for the purpose of monitoring contagion: one could, therefore, be subjected to rapid testing at the airport (free of charge).
Travelers who test positive for COVID-19 on arrival will have to self-isolate for 14 days or more until they test negative on the RT-PCR molecular test and will be subject to strict surveillance measures.
Regulations regarding COVID-19 may vary, depending on the mode of transportation used; therefore, travelers departing Tanzania are advised to inquire about the requirements of the destination country for the specific mode of transportation chosen.
Passengers departing from Zanzibar who need to undergo the Covid-19 test in order to travel to other destinations will be subject to payment of US$80 for the molecular test and US$25 for the rapid test. For passengers departing from mainland Tanzania, the costs are US$50 and US$10 (or local currency equivalent), respectively.
COVID-19 emergency numbers are as follows: 190 for Zanzibar and 199 for mainland Tanzania.
